What do I know and think about integrating technology in the classroom?
Technology in the classroom can be a wonderful thing. It gives the teacher the opportunity to access so much more with the kids. Smart Boards I feel are a wonderful tool. You can get so much hands on experience with a Smart Board. A teacher can make jeopardy games to help with review and many other games that are geared toward learning. This allows the kids to be hands on and nothave to remain seated the whole class. I do not feel there is much of a down side with technology in the classroom, other than when technology fails us that can be frustrating.
I agree with you that educational games are a great benefit and engage the entire class. And when technology fails, it can really disrupt the entire lesson plans for the day. That makes me realize that teachers should always have a back-up plan!
ReplyDeleteI agree that technology helps involve the kids in class and adds fun activities to the class time to keep them focused and entertained. I think Smart Boards are a great tool as well and that once we become teachers we will use them more often and get our students to join in and use them as well. You make great points!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that games and fun activities keep students from getting bored and start to loose interest in the class! These are some great ideas that i never really thought of before!
ReplyDeletei like your picture along with your post :) you made some really great points especially with the game idea that i have never really thought of before. we also had smart boards in my high school but i never had an experience like that.and i also agree with the comments above...teachers should have a back up plans, just in case.technology is great and can be helpful but we should not rely on it for eevrything.
ReplyDeleteI really like your picture! I wish I had more classes like yours... my teachers (because they did not have experience with SMART boards) simply used them as high tech white boards. I have never even seen someone use them for games. I must look up more on that now.
ReplyDeleteAre there any instances where you think a teacher should not use technology? (i.e their age, certain subject, age of students, school funding) I am not disagreeing with you or anything I am just curious.
